Improvement Guidelines
- The improvement of the entrance shall be completed at the expense of the permitee
- Only clean fill material may be used for improvement. Rubble and organic material are prohibited. Permitee is responsible for salvaging and replacing topsoil, erosion control and re-vegetation of access.
- All entrances shall have a minimum driving surface of 30 feet.
- The entrance shall have a minimum of 4-1 side slopes and the correct size culvert to allow proper drainage. Each entrance shall be improved in a manner that shall not cause water to enter on the roadway or shoulder. The entrance shall not interfere with existing drainage system on the right-of way
- All materials used in the improvement shall become public property.
- The permitee shall notify Highway Superintendent at least two days prior to any improvement within the county right-of-way. Improvement shall not proceed until the permit is completed. The improvement shall be completed in an expeditious and safe manner.
- The permitee is responsible to notify all utilities and the permitee is responsible if any damage is done to any utility during the improvement of the entrance.
- Any damage to the county road shall be repaired immediately.
- The Highway Superintendent may inspect the entrance during and after the improvement to determine that all terms and conditions of the permit are met. The improvement of the entrance may be stopped if all conditions are not being met. If the permitee fails to meet all required specifications they will be responsible for any reconstruction or improvements that need to be made to meet specifications.
By accepting the permit, permitee agrees to save, indemnify, and hold harmless to the extent of the law, Beadle County, its officers, and employees from suits, actions, claims of any type or character brought because of injuries or damage sustained by any person resulting from the permitee’s use of the entrance during construction of the entrance.
